Monterey Furniture originated during the Spanish Revival Movement in the late ‘20’s. And is alive today through the craftsmanship of Hile Studio. Spanish Revival architectural was springing up in all neighborhoods. In 1929, Barker Brother, a Los Angeles Furniture Retailer, had the foresight to contract Mason Manufacturing Co. to create a line of furniture to enhance such architecture. This line was hugely successful until 1943 when the country turned to the concerns of World War II. Presently the originals are much sought after and very rare. A perfect match for Spanish Revival architecture, Monterey Furniture Can easily be visualized in Craftsmen, Ranch, Colonial, and Log homes. Monterey Furniture of today is yet another fine example of nostalgic furniture, a specialty of Hile Studio Inc. It’s comfortable, lived in appearance conjures up wonderful evenings by the fire and of days of simple pleasures. |
